You’re in Good Hands with Kenny

This week we are shining the spotlight on our very talented Kenny Hamann.

Kenny is the Technical Integration Specialist for WebsiteTravel and TravelDesk and is often the conduit between our agent and operator customers, our technology, and our development team.

For our customers and the AAGT team, when we do not know the answer to something, we usually ask Kenny!

No doubt many of you will already know Kenny, but we thought we would ask him to reveal a little more about himself and what makes him tick.

Q: How long have you been in the travel industry?

Kenny: My journey in the travel industry began in 2009 when I joined Peterpans Adventure Travel. My first role was working alongside travel agents in the shop, signing in travellers and helping them with travel advice and internet facilities (it was a big deal back then to offer free internet!)

As time passed, I became a travel agent and worked at Peterpans before moving on to Backpackers World Travel. There, I took on the challenge of setting up a website with an online sales facility. As I grew in experience and skill, I was entrusted with running the website and online sales.

Eventually, I was invited to join the WebsiteTravel team to help with website building technologies for agents. I quickly took on more responsibilities and became an integration specialist, running projects that connected WebsiteTravel and TravelDesk to other online platforms to offer simple and hands-off booking facilities. The journey was exciting and challenging, but I loved it every step of the way.

Q: What do you love most about your role?

Kenny: I really enjoy my job because it lets me use my experience both as a user of the system and from different perspectives like TravelDesk and WebsiteTravel Global Marketplace. This helps me solve problems and approach issues from different angles. I also like that my job allows me to think creatively and do more than just my assigned tasks.

Q: What do you love most about our technology?

Kenny: What I really appreciate about AAGtech is the team’s enthusiasm for embracing the ever-changing technological landscape. The dedication to incorporating new online solutions ensures that our users have the best experience possible. Personally, I find the accounting and user interface of TravelDesk particularly impressive. However, I’m most excited about the new project we’re working on – I can’t share details yet, but it’s going to be a game changer! Keep an eye out for it.

Q: Any advice for agents & operators logging into the platform for the first time in a while?

Kenny: Sure, my advice would be to take a moment to ensure that your information is up-to-date and accurate before diving into the platform. As someone who provides support, I want you to know we are always here to help. No matter how small the question or concern may seem, don’t hesitate to reach out through our chat or email. Your feedback is also valuable to us – if you come across any issues or have suggestions for improvement, please let us know. By working together and communicating openly, we can find solutions that work for everyone.

Q: Favourite travel adventure ever?

Kenny: There are many great trips and one of the most unforgettable moments of my travels was on my birthday in 2014. I was on a 9-day Adelaide to Darwin trip with Adventure Tours Australia and was camping near Uluru. I woke up early on my special day, cocooned in my cozy swag, and was greeted by the breathtaking night sky that Australia is known for.

The stars shone so brilliantly, creating a celestial tapestry that seemed to stretch on forever. As I lay there, I was mesmerized by the authentic small sounds and silence of the outback. And then, to my amazement, a genuine dingo began howling its praise to the sunrise. In that moment, I felt so connected to the natural world and grateful to be alive. It was a beautiful experience that I will always treasure.
